Rugs are traditionally used in living spaces but have you ever thought about putting a rug in a kitchen..? We love using rugs all over the home.
Even in our kitchen projects! It's quite a new thing for us, but they are all over Instagram and we think they look fab!
We know you are going to take some convincing but let us show you a few reasons we love styling rugs in a kitchen.
1. Contrary to popular belief - They don't have to be tricky to maintain..!
With so many fabrics on the market and indoor/ outdoor fabrics becoming more popular as the popularity of using rugs in a garden increases it seems the perfect choice for a kitchen!

As kitchens can be high-traffic zones choosing a hardier fabric is key, but you can still pick a pretty vintage print.
Vintage rugs already look a little timeworn- again, perfect to absorb spills and marks and they won't show!
2. They are a great way to layer in depth and texture
We tend to stick to a neutral palette, especially in an area like the kitchen which is going to last for many years and needs to be timeless - so a runner is the perfect way to add a pop of colour or pattern to the kitchen which can be easily changed out in the seasons.
If you prefer to keep it muted and aren't brave enough to inject colour, rugs are the perfect way to bring in texture and layers of interest. Placing a runner between your cooker and island or as Kate has done above, under her stools, immediately adds effortless style.

3. They can make your kitchen feel cosy

With a lot of metal appliances, harsh cabinetry lines and cold hard floors kitchens can easily feel sparse and cold. Adding a rug is the easiest way to warm it up and add softness!
